Vallisneria Thin is one of the most natural plants to place in your aquarium tank which belongs to Hydrocharitaceae family. They are also known as eelgrass, tape grass or vallis, so they are often confused with Zostera species, marine seagrasses that are also usually given the common name ‘eelgrass’. Like other stem plants, it also requires balanced light, nutrients, trace elements and sufficient CO2 to grow at its best. Light should be provided with enough intensity to keep them alive and should be on for 10-14 hours a day. Under low light too it will grow but will be at slower rate. Leaves are narrow and dark green in color. The most common form of propagation for Vallisneria is through runners. They can quickly take over the entire tank, so to control this, runners can be pulled out and pinched or clipped off the main plant and can be planted at other place or dispose of responsibly. It can reach upto 50 centimeters of height, however it may vary depending on tank conditions. It belongs to Genus Vallisneria.
