Alternanthera reineckii also known as Telanthera is an aquatic plant which belongs to Amaranthaceae family, native to South America. It is best grown in submersed condition. This plant has bronze color on top of the leaf and deep purple underside of the leaf. This plant is quite easy to grow as compared to other red aquarium plants. It requires light, nutrients, trace elements and sufficient CO2 (optional) to grow at its best. Remember that this plant should be given a couple of week to root in their substrate and settle before you start trimming. For propagation, simply cut off a piece of stem and replant the cutting in the substrate. It can grow to about 16 inches in height. It belongs to Genus Alternanthera.
