Feeding: These omnivorous fish enjoy a varied diet of algae, sinking pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods.
Tank Mates: Peaceful and non-aggressive, Peppermint Bristlenose can cohabitate with most community fish, but avoid pairing them with aggressive tank mates.
Substrates and Tank Decorations: Create a natural setting with soft substrates and add driftwood, rocks, and caves to offer hiding spots.
Suitable Plants: Live plants like Java Moss and Anubias are ideal for their tank as they provide additional hiding spots and grazing surfaces.
Sexing: Males develop bristles on their noses, while females generally have smaller bristles or none at all.
Breeding: Breeding can be stimulated with regular water changes and the provision of hiding spots. Female Bristlenose lay adhesive eggs on various surfaces.
Maximum Size and Longevity: Peppermint Bristlenose typically grow up to 4-5 inches in length and can live for 5-7 years if well-cared for.
General Information: This variety of Bristlenose catfish is known for its distinct peppermint coloration, making it an attractive addition to any aquarium.
A Fun Fact: Peppermint Bristlenose is also called “Candy Striped Pleco” due to its striking peppermint-like stripes.
