Micrantheum monte carlo is an aquatic plant originating from Argentina. It belongs to Phrymaceae family. It can be grown emersed or submersed. It is a foreground plant, it can grow into a thick carpet of green foliage. Leaves of this plant are small, round and has bright green color. It requires light, nutrients, trace elements and sufficient CO2 to grow at its best. If there is lack of sufficient light and CO2 then it will have vertical growing thin stalks and it will have yellow leaves when there is nutrition deficiency. It can be difficult while planting into the substrate as this plant has tiny roots. For this, dry start will help by allowing time for the roots to anchor into the substrate. For trimming, you can use a pair of curved scissors and trim the top part off regularly (Remember that you have to let it settle in for atleast 2 weeks before starting trimming when planting it for the first time). Propagation is done by splitting, cutting off daughter plants. It can reach up to 3 to 6 centimeters in height or even more.
