Ceratopteris Thalictroides is fern species which belongs to Pteridaceae family native to Asia. It is also known as water sprite, Indian fern, water fern, oriental waterfern and water hornfern. They are pale green, brown when matured, fertile fronds are 15 cm to 100 cm or more including the stipe to 40 cm long. Stipes of matured plants are 3mm to 5mm in diameter. It requires light, nutrients, trace elements and sufficient CO2 (optional) to grow at its best. Its growth rate is fast and helps to prevent algae by consuming large amounts of nutrients. If this plant is left unchecked it will grow out of an aquarium. While planting, roots should be planted in the substrate but should not be deep to cover the base. For propagation, shoot off the small plantlets from the edge of older leaves and just replant it to multiply your plant. It can grow upto 10 to 35 centimeters in height or can be even more.
