Egeria densa is a one of the popular aquarium plants, species of Egeria native to warm temperate South America in southeastern Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay and is good plants for beginners and its rapid growth helps to create a balance in the aquarium from start. It is also called as large flowered waterweed or Brazilian waterweed. Stems grows 40 to 100 centimeters and becomes 2 to 4 centimeters. It also helps to prevent algae as it absorbs a great number of nutrients from the water. Stems are tube shaped with nodes from which the leaves grow from, each node has a whorl of 3-6 leaves. Its growth rate depends on nutrition available and also on the amount of light. Plant turns light in color and the tendrils grow thin in unfavorable conditions but growth does not stop. It provides shelter for fish and allows parents to lay their eggs and hide juveniles too. It can reach up to 20-30+ cm in height. It belongs to Genus Egeria.
