Alternanthera reineckii is a species of aquatic plant which belongs to Amaranthaceae family, native to South America. Alternanthera reineckii Mini is a dwarf variant of Alternanthera reineckii. It is suitable for small aquarium or as a foreground plant in larger aquascape. Like other stem plants, it also requires sufficient lighting i.e. atleast 10 hours a daily with CO2 for its better growth and better coloration. This plant can be grow submersed or emersed. It has vibrant red coloration which depends on CO2 supplied. Stem should be individually planted with 1.5 inches spacing between them in order to allow light reflection to react lowest portion of the leaves (For small aquarium, you can plant them at the center in groups). You can trim the bush to 5-10 cm height which will give you good results, you can use specialized tool or tweezers. For propagation, like other stem plants just cut the stems and replant individually or by group. It can reach maximum height of 8 inches. It belongs to Genus Alternanthera.
